Kraken launched its API Partner Program on July 2, 2026, per Kraken’s official product announcement.[1] This launch opens direct programmatic access to spot, futures, and tokenized xStocks markets for qualifying third-party trading platforms.[1] Kraken’s launch announcement makes the commission model and eligibility requirements explicit for partner integrators.[1]

The program launches with three platform categories: trading terminals, multi-asset portfolio management tools, and multi-venue analytics platforms. All covered trades still route through Kraken’s existing high-throughput, low-latency API stack, which keeps execution quality and regulatory licensing consistent across supported markets.

Who qualifies and what markets are included

Approved partners gain access to more than 640 spot cryptoassets and two futures categories: linear USD-settled multi-collateral contracts and inverse coin-settled single-collateral contracts.[1] Tokenized xStocks markets are included too, with 24-hour trading that runs beyond traditional equity-market hours. The only explicit exclusion is CME-listed U.S. futures contracts, which remain outside the program’s scope.[1]

Eligibility is limited to platforms operating in jurisdictions where Kraken holds active regulatory licenses for the full product suite. Integrators must also route all covered asset execution exclusively through Kraken’s API infrastructure and meet published user experience and security standards.[1] Those requirements preserve execution consistency and reduce regulatory risk on both sides of the partnership.

How the commission model works

There are no upfront fees or subscription costs listed in the announcement.[1] Instead, partners earn commissions on net trading fees generated by referred user activity. Multiple tiers are based on integration depth and monthly referred volume, with higher tiers earning larger shares. Commissions are calculated and paid monthly.

Lifetime commission language matters because the program does not set a fixed expiry. Partners remain eligible as long as they stay in good standing and meet ongoing performance and compliance requirements.[1] There is no stated upper cap on lifetime earnings, which makes this a structural retention play for trading-terminal operators with sticky user bases.

Integration support and operational resources

Qualifying partners receive a real-time partner dashboard showing referred user activity, monthly volume, commission earnings, and payout history.[1] That removes the need for separate reconciliation spreadsheets and makes revenue transparent from day one.

Support services include joint co-branded marketing, featured placement in Kraken’s partner directory, and access to developer evangelism for go-to-market campaigns.[1] Each qualifying partner is assigned a dedicated account manager with 24/7/365 technical support. Higher-tier integrations can request custom rate-limit increases, beta API access, and dedicated engineering assistance for complex implementations.[1]

Bottom line

Kraken is trying to buy distribution, not just referrals. Lifetime commissions, a partner dashboard, and direct engineering support lower the switching cost for trading platforms that already compete on execution quality and UX. The catch is exclusivity: routes must stay on Kraken’s API stack and stay inside licensed jurisdictions. For platforms that can meet the bar, the program offers a durable revenue stream tied to trading volume rather than one-time listing fees.
