Samsung Electronics has begun rolling out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its entire workforce in Korea and all global Device eXperience (DX) division employees, marking one of OpenAI’s largest enterprise deployments to date per OpenAI’s official announcement. The rollout covers R&D, manufacturing, marketing and corporate functions across the two user groups.

Under the terms of the agreement, all Samsung Electronics employees based in Korea, plus every DX staffer working outside the country, receive access to the two AI tools OpenAI confirms. Samsung intends to use ChatGPT for knowledge work including document drafting, data analysis and information retrieval, and Codex for software development and non-technical workflow automation.

Deployment Scope and Enterprise Guardrails

ChatGPT Enterprise includes built-in enterprise-grade security controls that let Samsung enforce its internal governance policies for AI use, including data protection and user and access management per deployment documentation. For non-technical teams, Codex can be used to build internal tools, public-facing websites and automated workflows without requiring dedicated developer support.

The rollout aligns with OpenAI’s recent launch of credit usage analytics and granular spend controls for ChatGPT Enterprise announced by OpenAI in June 2026. These features let admins set workspace-wide, group-specific or individual user credit limits, plus a workflow for employees to request additional capacity with context for their work. The controls are designed to support large organizations where AI usage can scale quickly across departments.

OpenAI reports more than 5 million people use Codex weekly for both technical and non-technical roles, with weekly active users in Korea growing nearly 800% since February 1, 2026 per OpenAI’s user metrics.

Partnership Expands Beyond AI Hardware Supply

The Samsung deployment expands the two companies’ existing collaboration, which to date has focused on AI infrastructure: Samsung supplies advanced memory semiconductors required for next-generation AI training and inference systems OpenAI states. By adding workforce AI adoption to the partnership, the two companies are expanding their collaboration from physical hardware supply to enterprise software deployment.

Harrison Kim, General Manager of OpenAI Korea, called the deployment “historic” in a statement, noting that Samsung is embracing AI as a core platform for all employees, rather than a tool limited to specific technical teams. “OpenAI will work closely with Samsung Electronics to help its employees level up with ChatGPT and Codex to move from ideas to execution faster, solve complex problems, and create new products and services,” Kim said in the official joint release.

Samsung Rollout Part of Broader Korean Enterprise AI Trend

Samsung’s move is part of a wider wave of enterprise AI adoption across South Korea OpenAI reports. Seoul National University recently rolled out ChatGPT Edu to all 47,000 members of its campus community, including students, faculty and staff, as part of its transition to an AI-native campus. Messaging giant Kakao has integrated ChatGPT into its KakaoTalk group chat feature, letting users query the AI directly in the country’s most widely used messaging app.

Other major Korean companies already using ChatGPT Enterprise, OpenAI APIs or Codex include LG Electronics, LG Uplus, Krafton, Toss, MUSINSA and HanaTour per OpenAI’s regional adoption data.

Bottom line: Samsung’s rollout of ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its entire Korea-based workforce and global Device eXperience staff represents one of OpenAI’s largest enterprise deployments to date, and expands the Samsung-OpenAI partnership from AI hardware supply to enterprise software deployment for large organizations.
