Vanillaware’s Muramasa: Revenant Blades will launch on PlayStation 5 on February 4, 2027, publisher Marvelous confirmed on September 10, 2026 PlayStation Blog. The announcement arrived alongside a new gameplay trailer that showcases the remastered action-RPG’s sword-fighting mechanics, character progression systems, and visual upgrades.

The game is a remaster of Muramasa: The Demon Blade, originally released on Wii in 2009 PlayStation Blog and later ported to PlayStation Vita as Muramasa Rebirth. Vanillaware’s signature hand-drawn 2D art style remains central, now rendered at higher resolution with updated assets for modern hardware. The February 4, 2027 date positions it as a late-cycle PS5 exclusive from Marvelous USA.

According to the PlayStation Blog announcement, the remaster includes faster load times and dual-audio support for Japanese and English voice tracks among its improvements over the Vita version PlayStation Blog.

The Steam store listing independently lists a February 3, 2027 release date for the PC version, confirming the launch window across platforms Steam.

The original Muramasa: The Demon Blade earned praise for its fluid combat built around a dual-stance system — swapping between long and short swords mid-combo — and its painterly art direction drawn by Vanillaware’s founder George Kamitani. Revenant Blades preserves that core while upgrading the resolution and frame rate targets for PS5 hardware.

A physical edition will include a reversible cover and a mini art book featuring concept art from the remaster’s development, Marvelous confirmed in the same announcement. Pre-orders open later this year through the PlayStation Store and select retailers.
