Insomniac Games launches Marvel’s Wolverine on PlayStation 5 today, September 15 PlayStation.com. The studio’s second Marvel adaptation follows its Spider-Man series but takes a deliberately different approach: closer, more visceral combat and a grounded narrative centered on Logan’s rage and regrets.

Creative director Marcus Smith told the PlayStation Blog on September 14 PlayStation Blog that while Spider-Man is tied to an open-world New York, Wolverine is “more contact with the world, more grounded.” Game director Mike Daly added that Logan is “a reluctant hero that will get the job done by any means necessary,” shaping both the visual language — blood, destruction, damage to both Wolverine and enemies — and the combat design.

The official PlayStation.com game page confirms the September 15 release and lists a standard edition PlayStation.com. A Digital Deluxe Edition adds five suits, reflective claws, and pre-order incentives including the classic brown suit. The game carries an ESRB Mature rating for blood and gore, intense violence, and strong language.

Senior art director Grant Hollis said the suit draws from the 1980s brown-and-yellow and yellow-and-blue designs but adds a tactical edge inspired by military gear and motorcycle armor PlayStation Blog. Narrative director Walt Williams described Logan’s conflict with Sabretooth — “kind of literally the big brother” at about nine feet tall — and Mystique’s contrasting outlook as “found-family kind of relationships” with new angles for longtime fans. Senior animation director Brian Wyser noted the team planted an early animation stake: Wolverine fighting in snow, using a quadrupedal stride that informs traversal. The Reavers and the Hand serve as enemy factions built to credibly challenge Logan’s durability.
