Google pushed the 2026-09 Pixel Drop on 15 September 2026, the company said, delivering a batch of software updates that reach supported Pixel phones in phases over the coming weeks Pixel Phone Help Community.
The headlining addition is a redesigned VIP contact system. New home-screen widgets let users call or text priority contacts with a single tap, while a bottom floating overlay menu lets them switch between VIPs without leaving the current screen. Glanceable notification badges now flag unread or urgent messages from those contacts.
Security gets a keyboard-level upgrade. Inline Gboard warnings in the U.S. flag suspected scam links and phone numbers as users type, and Scam Detection for chat app notifications expands to more regions beyond its initial launch The Keyword. The community post notes the feature analyzes patterns locally on device.
