OpenAI adds $125 premium seat to ChatGPT Business

Premium seats are coming to ChatGPT Business | OpenAI

OpenAI is giving ChatGPT Business customers a new, more expensive seat tier for their heaviest users. The Premium seat, announced August 10, 2026, delivers five times the usage of a Standard seat and removes the five-hour usage cap that interrupts long sessions, all inside the same secure Business workspace OpenAI announcement.

The pricing separates light users from power users, and workspace owners can mix both seat types on one team and reassign them as needs change. Standard seats stay at $25 per user per month, or $20 billed annually, while a Premium seat runs $125 per user per month, or $100 annually OpenAI announcement. A limited-time promotion softens the jump: the first 10,000 eligible workspace owners who join a waitlist before August 20 receive $100 in credits for each Premium seat added, up to $500 across five seats, with some getting early access before general availability ChatGPT Business Premium seat waitlist promotion. New workspaces must have fewer than 200 members to qualify, and OpenAI withholds credits from workspaces already on another active promotion.

For the teams doing the ambitious work OpenAI describes, dropping the cap is the real draw. The company says its top Business-customer request was expanded capacity for turning sales reports and inventory data into operating plans, building full marketing campaigns, or running Codex across larger codebases, where the old five-hour limit broke flow on longer jobs OpenAI announcement. Owners also get one dashboard to monitor usage and manage spend across the mixed seat pool. The tier is a clean way to stop usage limits interrupting real work without standing up a separate subscription, part of a broader push to put ChatGPT in front of every kind of worker, as with extending ChatGPT’s health features to all free users OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT health upgrade to all free users.
