Xbox has opened pre-orders for the Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller, priced at $89.99, as part of the run-up to the launch of Gears of War: E-Day Xbox Wire. Fans can order the battle-worn pad today from Xbox.com and participating retailers worldwide, including the Microsoft Store.
The controller’s design is built around Emergence Day, the moment the Locust Horde first erupted from the planet’s surface in the Gears of War saga. It features 3D-molded, laser-etched cracked-asphalt detailing with red glowing cracks meant to evoke an E-hole breach, exposing the iconic Crimson Omen beneath the surface Xbox Wire. Blacked-out ABXY buttons are punctuated by a transparent red X, with matching red triggers and a transparent D-pad, plus a dark silver metallic COG tag on the battery door.
A second path arrives on September 30, when Xbox Design Lab opens custom Gears of War: E-Day controllers built around artwork from heavy metal illustrator Luke Preece Xbox Wire. The centerpiece is a top case with a skull atop crossed Lancers, and fans can add metallic triggers and D-pads, rubberized grips, and personalized engraving.
8BitDo is also shipping a matching accessory. The officially licensed Ultimate Charging Dock for Xbox Controllers – Gears of War: E-Day works with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One wireless controllers and includes a rechargeable battery pack 8BitDo. It uses magnetic drop-and-charge alignment and built-in overcharge and overheating protection, with an amber LED while charging and white when full.
Both the Limited Edition controller and the Design Lab version will be shown publicly for the first time at the Xbox booth during gamescom 2026, where attendees can also go hands-on with the Gears of War: E-Day campaign’s playable debut Xbox Wire. The game returns to the beginning of the series, telling the story of humanity’s first fight against the Locust Horde.
