YouTube Premium Will Bundle Peacock Starting in Early 2027

YouTube Premium is about to become a two-service subscription. NBCUniversal and YouTube announced a multi-year global strategic partnership on July 27, 2026 that will fold Peacock Premium into YouTube Premium beginning in early 2027 — handing millions of existing YouTube Premium subscribers access to Peacock’s shows, films, and live sports inside the YouTube app itself, at no separately announced add-on step. NBCUniversal calls it Peacock’s largest wholesale distribution partnership to date.

The bundle terms: Peacock’s ad tier inside the YouTube app

The headline mechanic is simple: beginning in early 2027, Peacock Premium — the ad-supported tier of NBCUniversal’s streamer — will be included in a bundle with YouTube Premium, and subscribers will get what the companies describe as “seamless access to Peacock within the YouTube experience.” That means Peacock content playing directly in the YouTube app rather than bouncing viewers out to a separate Peacock login, a detail The Verge highlighted in its same-day coverage: Premium subscribers will stream Peacock’s ad-supported shows, movies, and live sports directly through YouTube in 2027.

The content list NBCUniversal is bringing to the table is heavy on live sports: NFL games including Sunday Night Football, the Olympics, NBA, MLB, Big Ten and Notre Dame football, Big 12, Big East and Big Ten college basketball, the Premier League, WNBA, the Kentucky Derby, and golf. On the entertainment side, the announcement names Love Island USA, The Real Housewives franchise, Law & Order: SVU, Saturday Night Live, The Traitors, All Her Fault, and The Office, plus Universal’s film catalog.

A distribution play sized for the streaming-bundle era

For NBCUniversal, the math is about reach. Peacock has spent years competing for direct signups against far larger rivals; wholesale distribution through YouTube Premium instantly puts it in front of one of the biggest paid-subscription bases in the market. “With this agreement, Peacock accelerates its next phase of growth by bringing the service to millions of YouTube Premium subscribers, driving long-term value for our business,” said Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal’s Media Group, in the announcement.

YouTube is framing the deal as a redefinition of what its subscription is for. “We’re incredibly excited to expand our partnership with NBCUniversal to redefine what a modern entertainment subscription can be for consumers,” said YouTube CEO Neal Mohan in the company’s own announcement post, pointing to a combination of creators, music, and now “Peacock’s expansive lineup of live sports like Sunday Night Football and the NBA, blockbuster Universal movies, and original series” in one place.

The rest of the agreement: YouTube TV, FreeWheel, Universal+ and Hayu

The Peacock bundle is the consumer-facing piece of a much wider deal. The agreement also extends NBCUniversal’s multi-year distribution arrangement with YouTube TV, keeping NBCUniversal’s linear entertainment, sports, and news channels on the largest pay-TV provider in the US. The two companies will deepen their advertising-technology collaboration through FreeWheel, NBCUniversal’s ad-tech unit, to expand monetization across both platforms.

Internationally, NBCUniversal’s streaming services Universal+ and Hayu will expand through YouTube Premium in select markets — extending the wholesale model beyond the US. And on the production side, NBC Sports becomes a production partner for select premier live sporting events on YouTube, with a selection of NBCUniversal live sports streaming on NBC Sports’ YouTube channel. The deal also extends distribution of YouTube, YouTube TV, and YouTube Premium across Comcast’s Xfinity and Xumo platforms. “This partnership brings NBCUniversal’s world-class content and iconic franchises to YouTube’s unmatched scale and global platforms,” said Comcast co-CEO Mike Cavanagh.

What subscribers actually get in 2027

For current YouTube Premium subscribers, the practical takeaway is that Peacock Premium arrives inside the plan in early 2027 and is available to existing members from day one — NBCUniversal says the bundle will be “immediately available to millions of existing YouTube Premium subscribers” at launch. Neither company’s announcement addresses whether YouTube Premium’s monthly price will change when the bundle lands, and no country list has been published yet for the international Universal+ and Hayu expansion.

The direction of travel, though, is unmistakable. YouTube spent 2026 consolidating its position as the default video destination on televisions; NBCUniversal just chose to ride that scale rather than fight it. If the bundle works, expect other mid-sized streamers to look hard at whether the YouTube app is a better storefront than their own.
