PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe subscribers in Southeast Asia can now stream and download Helldivers 2 through the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, the publisher said in its August 12 announcement (PlayStation Blog). The co-op shooter enters the subscription library on the same day its major “Devoid of Liberty” update goes live, so newcomers get immediate access to the newest frontline content rather than a stale build.
The Devoid of Liberty update pushes the war into the Illuminate’s Void, a new region where planets carry permanent mutations that grow more severe closer to the anomaly, according to the PlayStation post (PlayStation Blog). New objectives include destroying Illuminate spires and gateways, running data reconnaissance, and infiltrating structures, with secondary tasks such as eradicating Void mutations, extracting materials for research, and opening a secondary extraction zone to evacuate the squad faster.
Two fresh enemy types define the threat. The Wretch is a fast, evasive diver that can flank weaker players before they react, while the Crusher absorbs heavy damage, fights back hard, and regenerates unless worn down quickly, the publisher detailed (PlayStation Blog). On progression, the update unlocks all 300 ranks of security access and new rank titles, and SEAF platoons now drop in by dropship to fight beside squads and hand out stims.
A community event runs alongside the launch: players must kill 500 million enemies by August 18 to unlock four Helldiver PlayStation avatars, Sony said (PlayStation Blog). Helldivers 2 is listed on the PlayStation store page as included with a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription (PlayStation).
